Sue McLaughlin, the Farmer City City Manager, walked the students through how her role impacts economic development and why as entrepreneurs they need to get involved with their local government.

We discussed TIF district, city ordinances, zoning, business district funding, building inspections, code and so much more!

The beauty of CEO is all about learning how to build a business as well as the occupational opportunities that exist right here in their communities.

Our goal is to give them the big picture view and while it may feel like they are drinking from a fire hose at times, we don’t expect them to be experts in all the areas of entrepreneurship. Moreover, we want to give them the tools they need so they know who to call to walk them through the process. It is truly a team approach to have a successful business(es) which leads to thriving city and todays session illustrated this message.
