Clinton City Administrator Taylor Baxter hosted a session on city government and how they work with local businesses and entrepreneurs. He explained the different roles employed at the city and the student’s gained a better understanding of what it takes to make a city run smoothly.
We toured the police and fire departments as well. It was a great experience being able to talk to the police officers about how their jobs have changed over the years. Technology and changing of laws are the two biggest changes they have experienced in their tenure.
Additionally, the firemen discussed their budget and how the department is ran like a business. They also said that while they put out fires and answer emergency calls, overall they are in the business of customer service.
This experience exposed the students to many job opportunities as well a broad overview of city government. Thank you Taylor & your staff for a great educational experience!
