Institute for Entrepreneurship Entrepreneurial Education Partner
This past week the CICEO students had the opportunity to meet Jackie Joyner-Kersee and visit the JJK FAN campus in East St.Louis. The students toured the Academy, the Head Start Program housed in the facility, and got to meet several of the staff members. They also had lunch at the JJK Foundation where they met with individuals from the JJK Foundation and Lansdowne UP. They were able to see future plans of properties in the area, learned about how this team planned to carry out their vision for the future of East St. Louis and even got to go on a tour of the area. This site visit was an incredible opportunity. It was a culmination of so many business concepts they learned this past year including zoning, taxation, for profit vs non-profit, vision, mission, legislation, team work, networking and partnerships. We want to thank Kim Ekena for helping make this trip happen. We also want to thank Jackie Joyner-Kersee, her team and Mr & Mrs Mestemacher for the work they are doing. It is truly inspiring and this trip was life changing to many of our students.
